Prada from Humana
26. March 2026 / Eva Scharrer
Henrike… your name first occurred to me in 2012, when I was in the jury for the Kasseler Dokfest and we univocally selected your graduation work ‘Triangular Stories’ for the Monitoring exhibition. I met you in person a couple years later at SAVVY and we chatted for a while. I forgot about what exactly (something about how we in our bubble can align to fight rising rightwing populism and Nazism), but I do remember well your genuine kindness and curious enthusiasm. Since then, we frequently met at various occasions, on the streets of Graz where you showed your installation ‘Anschluss ‘90’ at steirischer herbst (you were very excited because you had found something Prada at Humana, exactly your style), and in St Kundigundis Kirche in Kassel during the opening of documenta fifteen, for which you had brought your altar-piece installation ‘Church of Trance’ from Port-au-Prince, and we danced in disco fog. I carried the silvery stickers of Church of Trance in my bag for a long time, sadly now they are gone. When I saw you and Clemens last time in Berlin in the spring of 2025, you had your six months old daughter Nina on your arm, and, as always, a bright smile on your face. When I received your Last Farewell on February 15, I couldn’t believe it at first, and I still can’t comprehend it now. Henrike… this was way too soon, there was so much you still wanted to do and the void you leave behind can’t be filled – the art world needs artists like you now more than ever. With Love, Eva
